Despite hot temperatures, the 24th Annual Muleday/Chickenfest was a success! Numerous groups performed on stage to a responsive audience. On Friday night Mo-Jo Trio performed and the 2011 Citizen and Pioneer Awards were presented. Jack Howell received Citizen of the Year and Barbara Jo Dyer Pioneer of the Year.
Saturday began with the 5K run followed by enjoyable performances by local gospel groups. The chicken and beef cookout featured a dessert category. This is the first year desserts were judged. An antique plane fly over was the highlight of the event. The Kiddie Tractor Race had numerous contestants. The Mule and Wagon contest had more participants than it has had in many years. Antique tractors and Antique cars were also featured in the parade.
A carnival provided entertainment for the children and was open during the Muleday/Chickfest activities. Despite the heat, the festival was enjoyed by all who attended.
